What has now become an annual evening of sparking good juju, in lieu of the traditional birthday party, I put on a concert and raise money for an organization that has had a particular impact on my previous year.
33 & SOME CHANGE
As a nod to the tradition, I gathered my Chicago tribe to cheers to the nonprofits, projects, and movements they love and adore. “The secret of change is to focus all of your energy not on fighting the old but on creating the new.”
32 & FOOLISH
The evening was curated from the stories of the company of Alive & Kickin and their responses to “what advice would you give your younger self?”
Alive and Kickin is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that features a talented ensemble of rockin senior performers ages 65-95 that entertain multi-generational audiences through popular music and personal stories.
A celebration dedicated to new work benefiting DalekoArts. Featuring the songs of Betti Battocletti, Gavin Berg, Andrew Cooke, David Darrow, Michael Gruber, Jason Hansen, Laurie Flanigan-Hegge, Keith Hovis, Ryan Lee, John Lynn, Denise Prosek, Max Wojtanowicz.
Featuring a sneak peek of For Tonight with a talented Minneapolis cast. A new decade was welcomed by honoring the ways life doesn’t always go the way you imagined it – sometimes it’s even better. All donations were gifted to Mixed Blood Theatre.
DEAR 28: THE SONGS IN MY HEAD
Raising money for the Lillian & Clara Lee fund in honor of Carl Lee and Tolerance in Motion. A night of old favorites and new tunes written just for the celebration.
DEAR 27: LET HOPE WIN
The inaugural concert that raised money for HopeKids, an organization that serves kids and families with terminal illness. For this night we asked ourselves, “how will you spark positive change?”
